As of right now to my knowledge lawyers do shit. However, my suggestion is that you can click E on a lawyer and pay then to reduce you crime. For example X has 2500 crime, X does not want to go to jail, X consults Y and pays Y to reduce him crime to 0. My suggestion is that for every point of crime you want to reduce it will cost you 3$, so for example if you had 3000 crime and wanted to reduce it, you would have to pay a lawyer 9000 to get it to 0. Thats my suggestion feel free to tweak it.
