Greetings!

As we all know, with the creation of gangs, there has been an extreme overflow in liquid money in the server. The economy is ridiculous as it may seem right now.

ioN has considered having everyone start from ground zero for his new map to get rid of this problem and MyBack has considered a wipe of the player database which is rumored to resolve some server issues such as lag.

The idea of recovering locks after selling a house is great and convenient, but that makes it more convenient for people to buy and sell houses at any time without much of an investment. The loss of 10% of the house after selling it is not much. It really isn't. What else will players spend money on? Guns? Crate Keys? Etc?

Gang establishments allow for insane drug plantations. They inflate the server more and more. Nearly unlimited guns and locks with extreme excess liquid money. All the desire and more.

Perhaps tax such large properties? Less of a reimbursement? No recovery of locks after sale? Purchase of keys to give to other players? Is inflation actually a problem in the server? What should be done??

Best regards,

iMienhGuy

[size=18pt]Greetings!

Hi. I've been waiting to discuss about improving the core of this gamemode, let's do it in this thread! Quickly though, because the content update comes out 8:00PM EST Thursday!

Along with the overly excessive amount of abusing exploits, the gangs period did result in an inflated economy. Another factor responsible is the drug aspect of the gamemode. Ever since Nick added the "Drug Addict" or modern day Drug Dealer, inflation has been accelerated further than it were before.

Yes, ioN does wish for the economy to reset for his new map coming sometime in August. But I'm mainly afraid that our player population will dwindle and disappear on us once we've reset everything. What we really need are loyal and dedicated players who would sit through Hell for us, I'm hoping to win some hearts with the first content update in three months, coming on Thursday night. Lag shouldn't be an issue unless it's on your end, the only issue with the way we save is that we cannot use any other SQL plugins because of the tension we've caused in loading times due to our huge amount of player data, all 1000 item slots for our 5000 players for example, multiply that, and that is how much data is being carried over.

Yes, perhaps we are treating players good with money, but for good reason, as many items are expensive in our server nowadays. In the past, I've tried solutions such as Keys for crates, pet kits, and other less overpowered items to be used.

True as true can be. Problem is, not all of us know that. Gangs can be poisonous venom without the proper control, and we certainly did not have control. Thankfully, gangs have phased out.

I'll go in order: Maybe, but complicated; Perhaps, but less beneficial to the player; Maybe, nullifying the door's locks and not refunding them may help the economy, but still will be less convenient to the player; Giving keys to doors for other players was always free, and will always be free. What you're bringing up is mainly a matter of convenience to players, but that's what money usually does for players.

Inflation truly is a problem with the way we perform our economy in our server. It's sort of a complicated thing to talk about, at least for me, since I haven't taken Economics class yet.

I am in support of a full data wipe of players. I personally think it would be beneficial to both normal players and the admins who are porting stuff over to the new map. It would give the players a reason to stay on more. It also gives everyone a level playing field to start out on. Just voicing my opinion.

Glad to know someone won't ragequit if there's a wipe.

Indeed, I want my map to last a while and not have homes be bought out within the first day of opening.

Players may stay more to re-gain but yet again, all the hours they have spent on the server, all of it to be gone

I don't have an issue with wiping, I'm broke anyways but then again, I think with the new drug pusher re-building will be extremely difficult. Players should also have some sort of reparation for all the time they spent on things to be gone.

"All the hours they have spent on the server, all of it to be gone" - The hours on the scoreboard is just a number, how about instead of worrying how big this number you instead think about all the good memories you had on the server during those hours. Starting from the beginning from 0 is not a thing to worry about, you won't loose admin, you won't loose the memories, you won't loose the respect. Also hours will probably not be wiped but we'll have to see because it also affects the income.

About the reparation, are you talking about some sort of reward for being active on the server?
I mean I don't think this would be fair depending on what the reward is... how about something like if you spent over 100+ hours on the server you get this model for free and if you spend 200+ hours on the server you get this model, just throwing out ideas.

I actually like Ion's ideas about models for server hours. Perhaps just toss out the option to have some sort of custom model they can use, or some special priviledge that wont give them some ridiculous one-up over other players.

I'm also 99% supportive of the server wipe, I would just like to keep hours/wages, just out of vanity.

Keep hours but not the wages. Would be unfair on everyone, if it's going to be a wipe, it's going to be a 100% wipe. Hours doesn't affect anything apart from wages so wiping them out is essential and key cause people who stack up their hours now will have a benefit later. I'd rather want the benefit to be custom models for those who were active on the server before the wipe to show thanks.
