The forum software this site uses, Simple Machines Forum (SMF) will be releasing SMF 2.1 soon. Whenever the update is released, the theme will not be compatible with it. Meaning all the progress we've made by finding the theme, editing it, and implementing nightmode will have to be started from scratch.
Now it might sound pointless since there's all that work that needs to be done, but try to think of what we can do with the next version of the forum: Two factor authentication will be implemented, a brand new editor that doesn't suck, almost all those crummy icons have been remade, and even the default theme looks pretty good.
Compatibility is important, so it is a mission to do two things when re-making our forum theme:
1st) Create a new theme to closely resemble the current one existing on the website
2nd) Modify the remade theme to completely resemble the one we have right now (minus a few changes such as extra icons gone)
All forum posts will be preserved, all avatars (hopefully!) will remain, and all stats will be imported so that everything resembles the current form with around 90% accuracy.
What are your thoughts, should we have two themes one remade from scratch and another looking like this one or what?
