The admin sections
A lot of people fail to understand that defending a malicious player, or a player with malicious intent never solves anything, it should be up to the admins to judge whether or not a player is malicious. From first hand experience i have been yelled at, screamed at, and even lost friends, for doing my job as admin. It stings for a bit, makes you question if they were really your friend, but you get over it.
It is true, warnings do not serve too much purpose other than to say "hey stop or be punished." Multiple warnings never solve anything. the procedures in general, at least to me never helped, because you get the non-malicious players defending the players who are. In all honesty, if you do not like the way someone admins, instead of constantly fighting them, just take the ban, 10 minutes to 1 hour is hardly anything, that is 1 game of competitive, or if you do not like that, find something else to do, like: YouTube, Twitch.
It saves more hassle in the long run. I know how myback wants his admins ran, and I interfere with that, for 1 simple reason : When there is a new admin, i never see him/her properly trained, i even thought of doing tutorials for them on YouTube. This is no ones real fault. Being admin is more of a feeling or experience. You do not have to be trained to pick right from wrong. Being an admin is not really a democracy, its more of a oligarchy.
Back to the improper trainer, this could be a multitude of things, whether it is not enough time to train, or they are kind of rushed into the scene, knowing few commands, and relying off the warning system to help them. Again this is no ones fault. Being an admin is not a right, it is something that is, and will be held as a powerful position in which the individual can be held accountable for.
When i first got admin, not on mybacks servers, On my own, i was 11 or 12 at the time i felt entitled, not so much in a snobby way, but more in the sense that i was a decider of conflict, a ultimate resolution to a tiny problem. I wanted to be a "good" admin, when in reality there is not such a thing. everyone has their own point of views, and each should be respected to some degree. am i saying admins are right all the time? No, i see people who constantly fight the power with verbal slurs, instead of being formal, and taking the time to either, report the admin, or even strive to get admin yourself to make a viable impact on the community.
Now what i see is admins afraid to make a mistake and get instantly removed, or for a better word "demoted." the warning system should not be in place for players, but more towards guide lines for admins. If a admin makes a moderate mistake, he should be able to learn and not lose all chances to learn by getting removed. The admins should be warned, and co-exist with players, not be held as a higher up with no room for error.
The Player sections
Malicious players should neither be hated on or harassed, instead, call them out on their fallacies and see if they learn, that is the duty of the player, to help the admin deal with a situation in a timely manner. no punishment should be dealt by a player, use the report system, do not drag on a pointless argument, when ultimately you will still get punished, stalling does nothing in the long run.
Non malicious players should be held with high regard, maybe even praised for their good doings to actively help the community. >!http://www.area51servers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2101&p=10979&hilit=exorcist#p10979 >! that is an old admin app of mine(i lied on the age, and became arguably one of the more favored admins to the players, but later down the road disliked on the admin team), the original server myback and i played on. through out the years the players got progressively worse, leading to what i call the Donald v Hillary (not starting a political warfare, because i could honestly not give two shits on what political party you care about) Where you have the best of the worse, eventually as the years went on the server finally became inactive, feel free to browse that place, myback and i almost literally grew up there, on HL2DM and that server.
What area51 did, was something unique, a bond held between players that could almost never be broken. That is what moonshade should be for, but insteasd i see all of these disrespect reports, or worse. The kids of moonshade try to act mature but in reality make people angry and annoyed, and the older of the community act like kids when they get angry. just put the differences aside and make up, unnecessary problems on a server that doesnt need problems.
