Here is my reply. Agree with me or not, it is your choice:
Before I begin with my reply, here is a brief history lesson: Back in the olden days of this RP, ways before Nick introduced "dynamic jobs" and the drugs we know "and love" today, we had around 50 or so "make-believe" jobs. People picked the job that they wanted and roleplayed as whatever they were. It was a choice, they had to do it, or else would get bored and leave. One thing stuck out to players: Robbing. Anyone, regardless of their job, could rob NPC's. It got them money, to purchase the big items that allowed them to do more powerful things than what their minds could think of. We lost our creativity. Our sense to play the "mod" how it was meant to be played.
First of all, I believe AFKing is awesome. It increases the server's slots so more players browsing for servers can notice us and think: "Hey, an RP server in CS:GO? I'll try it out". It just makes the MoonShade community appear healthier to someone in the server browser. But we have created a terrible problem with the way we AFK, specifically our righteous few and richest players, whom I will leave unnamed. Why am I talking about AFKing? Because it is one of the few root problems that caused these nasty effects Vic described in his video. Most, if not all of us, AFK for self-fulfillment: to gain more money, as defined in the background, to be used on ourselves for protection such as locks. food, or whatever.
However, this creates a conflict: Not everyone is AFKing for selfish reasons - Believe it or not: people actually want our server to look sustainable and populated - healthy. When my friend, Vulpez, would AFK on the server, it was for the server - not him. He was doing this for the community. But now as a community, we've inflicted a negative outlook and it is time we change.*
To everyone: *Refer to the points synthesized in Vic's video and actually watch it, don't just read our replies - He brings up amazing ideas that we need to grow up to.
Vic, if you're leaving now and forever, I just want you to know that you've made me change how I think of roleplay. I not only think differently and better now because of you but have evolved myself in the philosophy of roleplay. It's a wakeup call for me and everyone else. I used to be so one-sided with the way our current system works. I used to think it was 100% perfect and such. We're all Romans, crucifying you for doing the right thing, we're terrible.
For everyone and especially you Vic, I know you may or may not like the idea of our new Jailbreak server. But I highly recommend you join it. We can call it, in a different sense, another roleplay server. The only downfall is that you HAVE to RP as a prisoner or a guard. I'll be working on it full time and again: I recommend you to play it someday. It's pretty fun from what I have witnessed playing it.
To conclude: You know what I value than any of this? Freedom. I will give everyone the freedom to roleplay seriously or not. If you just wanna cool off after a tense game and chat, vent, or just RP, whatever you want. That's the glory of MoonShade. But take advantage of that freedom? Turn the game into something it wasn't meant to be like this mindless drug-money/AFK cycle? No. And this is why I've begun to exclaim I will be taking the purpose of our roleplay server in a different direction. We're more than just mindless zombies.
